About repurposedMATERIALS

America’s Industrial Thrift Store

We help good industrial materials get a second life. Shop a rotating selection of used and surplus inventory sourced from byproducts and waste streams across U.S. industries, from retired equipment parts to obsolete stock that still has real value.

Who We Are

repurposedMATERIALS is a landfill diversion company built around one simple idea: if something still has value, it deserves a second life. We’re proud to call ourselves America’s largest “industrial thrift store”, with a constantly changing selection of used and surplus industrial materials that can help save 50-75% off versus buying new.

The business was founded by Damon Carson, and we currently operate across six locations: Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio, Texas, and Carolina. We buy, sell, and trade materials all across the U.S., and we’re always looking to re-home useful inventory and materials with people and organizations that can actually put it to work.

We want to be your outlet for any castoffs or discards…eg: byproducts, waste streams, inventories, or equipment that could be a candidate for “repurposing”. That includes items like depreciated assets, overorders on a job, cancelled project inventory, facility cleanouts, closeouts, and surplus materials that are taking up space.

Organizations We’ve Helped Through Repurposing

To date, we’ve helped a wide range of organizations find practical second-life outcomes for used & surplus materials, inventory, and equipment, including:

  • US Army
  • Denver Broncos
  • City of Chicago
  • Nestles
  • BNSF Railroad
  • Oklahoma State University
  • Purina
  • US National Forest Service
  • Campbells Soup
  • State of Wyoming
  • Paramount Pictures

And many more. If you’ve got obsolete inventory, materials, or machinery you’re not sure what to do with, or you’re trying to source something without paying new pricing, there’s a good chance we can help.

What We Sell

repurposedMATERIALS carries a wide mix of used and surplus industrial materials that are still useful, just no longer needed by the original owner. Think of it like America’s “Industrial Thrift Store” for businesses, builders, maintenance teams, and makers who would rather reuse something solid than pay full price for new.

Inventory changes constantly, but you’ll typically find a blend of retired equipment parts, obsolete inventory, and surplus stock from facility upgrades, closeouts, and overbuys. Some items are unused surplus in original packaging, others are used and ready for a second life, and some are sold as-is for projects where you can inspect, refurbish, or repurpose.

Common Types of Items You’ll See

  • Used industrial materials:  materials that have fulfilled their Life #1, but still have interesting Attributes, Characteristics, and Engineering that make them ready for a productive Life #2
  • Obsolete and discontinued inventory: items that no longer fit a current spec but still perform their job
  • Surplus materials and supplies: excess stock, overordered materials, and unopened leftovers from jobs
  • Bulk lots and mixed surplus: pallet and lot deals when companies clear out space fast

Condition and Listing Notes

Because we deal in second-life inventory, condition can vary. We aim to be upfront about what you’re getting with clear photos, measurements when relevant, and practical notes on wear, packaging, and completeness. If something is sold as-is, we’ll say so. If documentation or part numbers are available, we include them to make sourcing easier.

Why Surplus Shopping Works

Buying used and surplus industrial materials can save money, solve procurement headaches when items are hard to find, and keep good materials in circulation instead of heading to the waste stream. If you’re flexible and you like a solid find, surplus is where the best wins tend to show up.

Where Our Inventory Comes From

Our inventory comes from byproducts and waste streams across a wide range of U.S. industries. When facilities upgrade equipment, close out a project, change specs, or clean out a warehouse, perfectly usable materials often get pushed aside simply because they’re no longer needed in that operation.

That’s where repurposedMATERIALS comes in. We help redirect surplus and used industrial materials into the hands of people who can actually use them, whether that’s for maintenance, fabrication, jobsite needs, repairs, or creative reuse.

Common Sources of Materials

  • Facility upgrades and retrofits: removed components and parts that still have life left
  • Decommissions and replacements: retired equipment parts pulled during shutdowns or equipment swaps
  • Project closeouts: leftover materials from completed builds and installs
  • Overbuys and overstocks: extra inventory ordered “just in case” that never got used
  • Obsolete stock: items that no longer match current standards but remain functional
  • Warehouse cleanouts: bulk lots cleared to free up space fast

Why Companies Move This Inventory Out

In most cases, it’s not about quality. It’s about space, timelines, changing requirements, and the cost of storing materials that aren’t part of today’s workflow. We turn that excess into a second-life supply stream so it can stay useful instead of becoming waste.
