why repurposedMATERIALS?

BeforeAfter
BeforeAfter
BeforeAfter

“repurposing” is taking a byproduct or waste stream such as a retired street sweeper brush and giving it a 2nd life as a backscratcher for horses or cattle. It is taking a decommissioned fire hose and giving it an extended life as a boat dock fender. It is taking an obsolete ski lift cable and giving it a second life as hand railing in a luxury condo building.

We’re now extending our “repurposing” mission/concept to include things like Chemicals and Ingredients, Products and Inventories, Equipment and Machinery, and even Real Estate. Anything that is obsolete to its primary industry is of interest to us.

how our customers have repurposed materials

BeforeAfter

BEFORE: A major natural gas utility company in Illinois had some 4″ diameter new, unused polyethylene pipe “expire”. Yes, natural gas pipe must be installed and buried within 3 years of the date of manufacture for safety and liability reasons. If it doesn’t get installed within that 3 year window, then it becomes unusable and is discarded. We took in some expired polyethylene pipe that had expired.

AFTER: A Minnesota farmer bought 2,800′ feet of this “expired” pipe to move manure around on his hog farm. The hog farmer didn’t care what the date of manufacture of the pipe was. The farmer buried the expired gas pipe connecting his hog barn to his corn field irrigation system which will spray the manure onto his corn field.

BEFORE: The US Army, and other branches, systematically retire their big cargo parachutes that range in size from 30’ to gigantic 100’ diameter chutes after so many uses.

AFTER: Ohio sculptor Alan Cottrill purchased a cargo parachute to veil his sculpture of basketball legend, and NBA Hall of Famer, Jerry Lucas as it stood waiting to be unveiled at his alma mater. During the reveal, the parachute strings accidently got stuck on the bronze fingers of Lucas which inspired the Columbus Dispatch headline…”the Jerry Lucas statue is unveiled at Ohio State Univ, with a snag.”

BEFORE: We took in a semi truckload of 2″ thick, Level 8 unused ballistic glass panels that was originally intended to be installed at the state capital complex in Sacramento, CA. Unfortunately, the 42″ x 10′ panels of ballistic glass were made to the wrong specification and thus rejected. We accepted in the ballistic glass panels.

AFTER: We re-homed 24 giant panels of Level-8 bullet resistant glass with a zoo in Texas that will be installing the ballistic glass in a new lion exhibit they are starting construction on in 2026. While the 2” thick glass is over engineered, the price they paid is a lot less.

FAQs

You’ll typically see things like reclaimed lumber, pallet racking, steel, cable, containers, industrial equipment, and jobsite leftovers. Some items are unused surplus in original packaging, others are used and ready for a second life, and some are sold as-is.

We buy and sell across the U.S., and we also operate from multiple locations. Shipping and freight options depend on the item size, weight, and where it’s going, so the details are usually handled at the product level or through a quick quote.

Yes. If you’ve got overordered materials, cancelled project inventory, depreciated assets, or warehouse cleanouts, we’ll take a look. The main thing we care about is that it still has real use left so it can be put back to work instead of taking up space.
