BEFORE: These Billboard Vinyls once stood high above the highways, built to handle sun, wind, rain, and years of outdoor exposure.
AFTER: A customer turned them into a backyard kickball slip & slide for summer games and muddy competition. Tough material, second life, and a whole lot more fun than sitting in a landfill.

Our Customers: “We will be using the Insulation on the roof of our house. It will go on top of the waterproof membrane to protect it, and have two feet of dirt over the top of it. There is way too much waste in the world (how does a professional construction company get so far out in its estimating??) and it was hard trying to find a sufficient quantity of Insulation in second hand markets.” – Jeff in New Mexico
SAVINGS: “Also cost, it was a fraction of the price of new Insulation, even counting the cost of the 8 hour drive each way to pick it up!” – Jeff

Customer Purchase: “Grabbed one of your Tanks w/ Pump & Brush and I’m planning to use it to clean my 4x4s after trail runs. They get caked in mud underneath, so instead of messing with a bucket and hose, I’m hoping to just load this up and spray everything down quick when I get back. Way easier cleanup and keeps me from tracking half the trail home with me.” – Carter in Oklahoma

How We Do It: We subscribe to a huge number of trade journals across very diverse industrial sectors. One of the things we do is look at the advertisements in the magazines. We look for products that are being manufactured new where we know of a used material that might be able to be substituted. We call this “Substitutionary Thinking”!
Case Study: A company is advertising nest pads in the trade magazine Poultry USA. The nest pads are just 1 1/2″ plastic, shag carpeting used to lay on the hen cages to cushion the eggs after they’re laid to keep them from cracking.
Substitutionary Thinking: used Turf from football and soccer fields is 1 1/2″ plastic, shag carpeting that could probably do the same job if cut into small little squares.
Q: Do you have another good example of “Substitutionary Thinking”? Email Us Details!

Customer Feedback: “We grabbed some Treated Wood Guardrail Timbers and turned them into borders for our butterfly garden. They’ve got that solid, weathered look already, so it came together quick and actually looks like it belongs out there. Now it’s all filled in with flowers, and we’ve got butterflies showing up every day, way better than just a plain patch of dirt.” – Janice in Texas
