Our Customers: “The robotic milking room is heated in winter to prevent freezing, but heating the entire barn (about the size of 2 football fields) was impractical. After adding used Conveyor Belting, heat loss decreased, and the cows adapted quickly. Initially, I thought the belting might slow cow flow, so we left out one strip, but they adjusted fast. The belting is durable and easy to work with, and we added snaps for easy removal when it warms up.” Tara Reisinger

The Reese’s Moment: How Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and One Brilliant Idea Sparked repurposedMATERIALS.

Every great idea starts with a moment of unexpected harmony—like when chocolate met peanut butter. For our founder, Damon Carson, that “Reese’s Moment” came when two parts of his life suddenly clicked, inspiring the launch of repurposedMATERIALS.

The Chocolate: Damon co-owned a trash hauling company serving the ski resorts of Vail and Breckenridge, Colorado. Day in and day out, he saw tons—literally—of perfectly usable materials being sent to the landfill. That experience planted a seed: There has to be a better way.

The Peanut Butter: Damon lives and breathes the “used mentality.” When he shops, he goes secondhand first. His Ford F-150 had 160,000 miles on it when he bought it, and his entire wardrobe comes from thrift stores. He believes in giving things a second life.

The Reese’s Moment: In 2010, an airbrush artist doing contract work for one of Damon’s companies casually mentioned, “If you ever come across an old Billboard Vinyl, they make great drop cloths for painting.” That simple comment lit the spark. It was the perfect fusion of Damon’s awareness of discarded materials and his passion for reuse—and just like that, repurposedMATERIALS was born.

Fun Fact: This is one of our employee Shawna’s favorite “repurposes” – Movie magic meets industrial savage.

INBOX: “When we started building a robot for our indie sci-fi film, we needed flexible, durable parts that looked industrial. ‘Repurposing’ Rubber Hose was the perfect solution—it gave our bot the perfect retro-futuristic vibe!”Crystal in Georgia
